La Jolla Tour and Concours 2023
The La Jolla Concours 2023 was no disappointment, and we had a blast, the weekend was field with multiple events and the La Jolla Historical Society along with the Concours and McFarlane Promotions hit the ball out of the park. Our Weekend began with a Fun and exciting Tour where we drove or 1952 Bentely Mark VI Special Roadster over 150 through San Diego, Visting Museums, and unique stops along the way. After a brisk meet up at Porsche of San Diego we travelled to the hidden gem of Only Yesterday Classic Auto's owned and operated by famed car collector Chuck Speilman. With the backdrop of Duesenberg, Packard's and some of the finest collectibles you've ever seen we had nice time sharing stories with friends and learning about Chucks Passion for his cars and his dedicated museum to honor heroes of the September 11th. Before not to long we were off again and headed to another collection just north of San Diego, then finally meeting our finish at the La Jolla Tennis club for Lunch, Trophy ceremony and gifts.
It could not have been better, the weather was fabulous, the cars were fantastic, our vehicle performed very well and some others didn't. We were happy to enjoy the day. Into the night brought one of the best social gatherings held at the La Jolla Cove, the Friday night mixer on the lawn. Just as the sun sets the Night comes alive with Music, Entertainment and Auction, on top of an incredible backdrop overlooking the ocean, with sounds of the Cove's animal life coming to life. Drinks and Hors d'oeuvre, great friends and stories of the day wrap the night up in whimsical fashion.
For show day we took a little break and decided not to enter as a Concours entrant, you'll see in one of our other events we actually won with the Ferrari the year before, so this year hosted by the Ferrari Club of San Diego we entered what so called the Motor Car Classic public show held on the grounds of the concours but open to the general public. This is fantastic option to view some amazing cars and if you're attending San Diego during concours week it's a worthwhile pit stop. Gathered with like-minded enthusiasts our club brought out over 40 cars badged with their prancing horse to display. As a fun and active group this is something a bit of a treat for the public some owners let kids sit in their cars and take photos, some would start the car to let people hear them and over all just gave a good experience for bystanders enamored with event.
Taking place typically every April is the La Jolla Concours D'Elegance and you can visit their website here if you'd ever like to attend.
