La Jolla Concours 2022
The La Jolla Concours for 2022 was a smash, we brought out the 1967 Ferrari GTC and took a Second place…We were honored that a good friend entrusted us to display his car on his behalf. He had sent it from Connecticut to California for a few events and had plans to show it at several venues as it made its trip back across the USA. His 1936 Jaguar also did well too, we detailed it for him, placed it on the field as part of our White Glove Concierge Service, and fortunately booked a nice win. Up early handling two cars was not easy and was a busy morning but overall, it went smoothly.
As all car shows are different the concours are quite strict and judging is demanding, we had an uncooperative running light that went out on the field. If you show cars then you know, we check it all, we double check it all and there is no guarantee something worked one day will win the next and this is what we had.
While doing the light check we were informed one was out and it couldn’t be… we looked for ourselves and sure enough no light, when we check ed the horn sure enough no horn…We had a problem!! They gave us 15 minutes to fix it, somehow the Horn problem was related to the light and the fuse blew, we found the light to have a grounding problem and think that surge blew the fuse with less than 10 minutes left on the clock we disassembled the light, fixed the ground then replaced the second fuse for the horn. We called the Judges back over and all was working, we saved the day at the last second with no point deduction and secured our 3rd place win.
Its always something with old cars and this was a brief shocker, thankfully we had tools and the means to fix it ourselves.
