Judged at Motor Car Classic
The La Jolla Motor Car Classic!!! Here's Comes the Judge!!! LOL Lol That's right 2021 was a tough year for events and with Covid. Finding Venues was not easy, Determined to put on a show the La Jolla Concours was canceled, so the Motor Car Classic a spinoff of the Concours took the reins. Still organized by the LA Jolla Concours team this smaller more intimate show was a well needed break from what was going on in the world and provided a fantastic gathering of cars, over 100 vehicles came out to support he show. I say her comes the Judge because Myself David Young of Precious Metals Fine Motor Cars of San Diego was asked to Judge the event.
I asked not to place in the European Sports car category because this was the category was to compete in with our 1969 Lamborghini Isero S but ultimately me knowledge of this era of car preceded my request and was in need to actually dissect the cars of this grouping.
There was some tough competition I have to say, a few nice E-type Jaguars showed up, a freshly restored 190 SL Roadster, some very nice Ferraris were in the eth group. A good friend of mine had entered a car that I knew well and has beat me several times so I was a bit nervous knowing just a few yards away he'd be on display, but to my benefit he didn't show!!
I had to pull myself away from the Judging when it came to our car, a new team took lead and I sat by watching!! After some tough discussion and several trips back and forth, it came down to us and the 190 SL. We pulled out a win and got 1st place. It was well deserved and very very tough; I had judged that SL and I knew its condition was stunning. I was very happy to achieve such an honor and we thank the La Jolla Motor Car Classic for this opportunity to Judged and Showcase.
