Bayfair Hydroplane Racing and Car Show

San Diego Bayfair has a long and rich tradition in Mission Bay Park. The first race was staged in 1964 thanks to the foresight of the great unlimited hydroplane racer Bill Muncey. Muncey was the driving force behind Bayfair and getting the racecourse built to host the event.
The 2.5-mile racecourse, which was named after the late Bill Muncey, is the longest and fastest racecourse on the H1 Unlimited hydroplane Blimps circuit. Driver Dave Villwock set the World Lap Speed Record of 173.384 mph in 1999 at Bayfair. Villwock has won a record nine Bill Muncey Cups, including his first ever Unlimited hydroplane race victory on the waters of Mission Bay.
This year Bayfair opened up its grounds to host the first annual Bayfair Car meet. Mobile event radio collaborated with local shops, enthusiasts and us at Precious Metals to help start and support this unique automotive event. We got up early to be aired on Fox5 News for Throttle Thursday to promote the event. We brought several vehicles including our McLaren MP4-12C, a 1972 Rolls Royce and a 1955 Chevy Bel Air Convertible. It was a fun and free event for the cars so we got a lot of traffic, the kids were the best part, as they had a fun day of rides, cars and fast boats. What else could you ask for? The crew was a bit exhausted after several early mornings, 3rd day wiped out our Master Technician Rick, but all in all what a fantastic event.
