The Dana Point Concours is not only in a beautiful setting, but the grounds of the St. Regis Monarch Resort offers relaxing atmosphere and very luxurious accommodations. Much like Amelia Island this is the Concours that you spend the entire weekend at, as I remember there is a small drive the day before along with a Nighttime reception. I tend to rent a room at St.Regis for the entire weekend, St.Regis offers show rates for participants and you will find many of the noteworthy collectors are here. Take in a dip in the pool, or ladies can spend a day at the spa there is a lot to do and I go every year. This year I brought a 1920 Kissel Gold Bug 1 of 100 built, the car did well I placed 2nd in class. Unfortunately as the saying goes "it's an old car" so of course she broke down. I couldn't have been more than 20 feet from the stage after winning and the car stopped running, it made it over the awards podium and that is all she had to do. After a quick tug up the hill and through the chanting parade of onlookers, it was back in the trailer and heading home.
